Do-it-yourself rabbitry: step by step instructions. Shed rabbit breeding: we are implementing it on our site How to build a shed for keeping rabbits

Breeding and keeping rabbits is a fascinating and uncomplicated activity. If you have a plot, this profitable business is quite affordable for you.

Check out our detailed guide to learn how to properly make and equip rabbit sheds.

Benefits of breeding rabbits in sheds

Rabbits can be kept in open enclosures only in countries with fairly mild climatic conditions. In open enclosures and in the fresh air, these animals feel more comfortable. However, in countries with cold winters and sudden changes in temperature, rabbits must be kept indoors. For this purpose, it is customary to build entire complexes - the so-called sheds.

Shed is a building consisting of a canopy and several rows of equipped cages operated manually or by automated systems.

The main advantages of shed structures for rabbit care:

  • increasing farm productivity through efficient process management;
  • optimal use of the territory;
  • the ability to build a mini-crole farm with your own hands, using building materials of low cost;
  • the possibility of keeping rabbits in separate cages;
  • comfortable conditions for breeding rabbits (optimal temperature, protection from the sun and wind).

Did you know? Rabbits belong to the Zaitsev family. As you know, rabbitsprone to loneliness.Rabbits, on the other hand, are social animals; in the wild they live in groups. This is their main difference from hares.

Houses (sheds) for rabbits can be bought, but you can also build your own hands, following clear drawings. The method of keeping rabbits in sheds is becoming more and more popular, gradually replacing obsolete cages. Building sheds will not require any special investments from you and will suit even a beginner in this business.

What you need to create a shed, we select materials

First you need to decide on the material from which we will build future houses for rabbits. Classic sheds are a metal or wooden frame and metal mesh cages located on top (on the frame). An important part of the shed design is a rectangular frame. The frame can be built from wood or metal. Cells are placed in two or three rows on both sides of the building.

Important!Since metal tends to heat up in the sun, it is undesirable to use this material in the construction of sheds. In stuffy metal houses, animals will feel uncomfortable. Sheds for rabbits made of transparent polycarbonate can be an excellent replacement for metal cages.

Required Tools

To create sheds, you will need the following building tools:

  • standard hacksaw for wood and metal;
  • level;
  • yardstick;
  • mesh scissors;
  • hammer;
  • screwdriver;
  • screws and nails;
  • glue.
You also need to pre-prepare the galvanized mesh, slats, beams, planks and roofing materials. When building sheds for rabbits with your own hands, be sure to use ready-made drawings.

Step-by-step instructions for creating a shed with your own hands (drawings, dimensions)

Sheds come in different sizes. For young animals, cage sizes are usually 60 cm long and 50 cm high. For mature rabbits, the length should be at least 1 m. For females, the cage must be divided into two parts, which are connected by a hole. In a smaller part, the rabbit breeds offspring.

Do-it-yourself typical drawings of a shed for rabbits are shown in the figure. All dimensions are actual size.

Important! The approach to the cages must be provided from two sides. And the lowest tier of cells should be located at a height of at least 60 cm from the floor. This is due to the fact that rabbits do not tolerate a humid environment.

Step-by-step instructions for building a shed for rabbits:

Arrangement of a shed for rabbits

The rabbit shed should be convenient for do-it-yourself maintenance. The dimensions of the cages and enclosures should allow the worker to reach any corner of the enclosure. Laying food and water, cleaning, processing and checking - all this should be regular and carried out according to a certain schedule.

Wood floors are prone to rotting and become a breeding ground for germs, rats and insects over time. It is desirable to concrete the floor of the rabbitry and give it a slight slope. This will make it easier to clean and sanitize the rabbit sheds. Each cage must be present: a drinking bowl, a hay net recess, metal plates for grain, straw mats.

When arranging a shed, it is important to provide good lighting. During the warm period of time, you need to provide rabbits with fresh air and a constant source of light. A great option is to equip windows on the roof and on the side walls.

At low temperatures, the shed building must be insulated with all available insulating building materials (for example, foam, straw). If the farm has sheds, in winter the rabbits can be moved indoors. However, it is better to have extra mini rabbit sheds indoors. It is also possible to overlay the entire structure of the shed with shield walls and, thus, get a closed room. However, in regions with very cold climates, it is customary to breed rabbits exclusively indoors.

Shed buildings for rabbits are designed both on an industrial scale and for small farms. Industrial sheds for rabbits are fully automated. Labor-intensive processes of cleaning, feeding and water supply are performed by special mechanisms, which significantly increases labor productivity. Small farm sheds are maintained by manual labor (and yet many processes can be simplified and improved).

There are a number of rules that must be followed to ensure comfortable conditions for keeping rabbits in a shed:

  • In no case should the cage be cramped, there is no need to save material.
  • For males, it is necessary to organize an aviary with the possibility of movement. This factor has a direct impact on the ability of males to reproduce.
  • During the offspring, the rabbits are kept for some time near the females for feeding. Therefore, 3-4 females should be placed in individual mini rabbit sheds with moderate space.
  • One cell of the shed construction must be kept empty. Some young rabbits do not reach the desired weight during the period of stable feeding. In this case, the pets are placed in a separate enclosure and fed through a pipette. Sometimes rabbits are fed by another "free" female.
  • It often happens that rabbits get their paws into the cut and can injure themselves. Therefore, a do-it-yourself mesh floor in a rabbit shed is acceptable, but dangerous. However, the notch has its pluses: ventilation and cleanliness. Separate fragments of the floor can be made from a very fine mesh structure.
  • It is desirable to make sheds on racks. This is due to the fact that carrying cells on tables or cinder blocks will respond with the inconvenience of dragging the entire structure.
  • You should not make the door in the front wall small, as this will make it difficult to care for the rabbit farm: it will be difficult for pets to pull out with their own hands.

Farmers carefully examine the features of rabbit breeding, are in search of information that will increase profits. Some of them want to keep individuals in pits, others in cages. In the article, we will consider in detail , as well as learn about the feedback from farmers.

Canopies of an open frame type with the same cells are called sheds. Most often, small cells included in sheds are closely adjacent to each other. At the heart of this design is a rectangular frame, which can be made of wood or reinforced concrete. As a rule, cages are placed in 2 rows, although three-tier sheds are also found, but much less often. They can be seen on large farms.

Shed photo for rabbits

The floor is often made of galvanized mesh with small cells. You can better see the sheds with the help of the photo in the article. This building has a number of advantages, for example, the farmer can easily and quickly get rid of the waste products of furry animals.

The dimensions of cages or sheds can be completely different. The length of the structure must be at least 60 cm. Most often, they contain young animals. For a rabbit and a rabbit, sheds are built a little more, the optimal length is 1 m. When shedding rabbits, the owner of the farm should take care of arranging this room. What is included here?

First of all, a drinking bowl, directly a mesh recess for hay, metal plates for grain, mats for straw (we are talking about winter maintenance) - this is what must be present in this room.

Reviews of rabbit breeders who once tried breeding fluffy animals in a shed way confirm that it is convenient and profitable. Many decide to save money, so drawings on the Internet and expert advice allow you to make them yourself, and not buy them in specialized stores.

Benefits of breeding rabbits in sheds

Shed keeping of rabbits has a lot of advantages in comparison with other methods. Here are the main advantages of such breeding of individuals, namely:

  1. The ability to independently make sheds for the required number of rabbits.
  2. Not a large number of materials for the construction of a building that is guaranteed to last for many years.
  3. Increasing productivity through proper planning of this branch of farming.
  4. Making the most of available shed space and breeding rabbits in individual cages.
  5. Low cost of making sheds with your own hands.
  6. Comfortable conditions for keeping rabbits, this includes both the optimal temperature and the absence of drafts and heat.

Do you have any questions? Have you long sought to make a suitable building from improvised materials? Then do-it-yourself rabbit sheds are exactly what you need!

First of all, the farmer should pay attention to the drawing of the finished shed and its photo. You can learn more about the manufacturing process of the structure from the video. To build a shed, you need to prepare a galvanized mesh, slats, planks, as well as bars, slate or polycarbonate in advance. A level, tape measure, glue, scissors, a hammer and nails will also be needed.

Shed blueprint
  1. From the bars he makes a frame for the required number of individuals. For these purposes, use glue and screws.
  2. We proceed to the manufacture of the skeleton of the cell. The level helps to maintain perpendicularity. You need to take the corners and fix the entire structure, carefully screw in the screws.
  3. We make the bottom of the shed cage using wooden slats. The distance between them should be about 1 cm.
  4. Next, it is important to tackle the mesh, and cut it into rectangles to cover the sidewall, back and front.
  5. Then you need to make doors for the shed design. First, the mesh is stuffed onto the base, and then a latch or a suitable locking mechanism is attached.
  6. At the end, the rabbit breeder can start making a sennik, which is placed either near the door or between the cells themselves.
  7. The final touch is to cover the shed with polycarbonate or other material that is suitable for this purpose. The roof of the building is made at an angle, so that water will drain well after rain.

When creating a private rabbit farm, you should plan the conditions in which these animals will live. Sheds for rabbits are considered the best in this regard. Responsible consideration of the organization of animal care contributes to the creation of a large farm with a good annual income.

When creating a private rabbit farm, you should plan the conditions in which these animals will live.

Most modern breeds of rabbits, which are taken for cultivation in the latitudes of our country, tolerate cold conditions well. Except, of course, severe frosts. Considering that direct sunlight, as well as high temperatures, are harmful to these animals, it is advisable to grow rabbits in enclosed spaces, standing separately. At the same time, an influx of fresh air should be ensured, but without access to drafts and dampness.

The shed system for keeping rabbits is a whole complex of buildings, including a canopy, cages installed in tiers, placed vertically or cascaded. At the same time, the distance from the floor of the lower cages to the ground should be at least 70 cm in order to preserve heat.

If the climate permits, it is optimal to keep rabbits in open fenced enclosures in the fresh air, that is, in conditions that are practically no different from natural ones. There, animals can lead a more mobile lifestyle, getting their own food. The advantage for the owner will be that less time and effort is spent on care. Classic cages are the traditional way of keeping rabbits. This method is characterized by convenience due to the rationality of the organization of space, the processes of feeding and caring for animals.

DIY manufacturing

Typically, a factory-made shed structure is about 50 m long, 1.5-3 m wide. This space allows you to simultaneously contain about 400 adults. For small private farms, you can design a shed of a smaller area, for several dozen rabbits. Drawings come in a variety of designs. To properly make a shed for rabbits with your own hands, you should approach the issue responsibly.

Building a rabbit shed on your own yard is not difficult at all. To do this, you need individual cells in the right amount. They are placed in 2-3 tiers on both sides of a dedicated or specially constructed room. The width of the passage should be at least 1.5 m. It is possible to provide for summer and winter housing options for rabbits by building a light shelter for animals and an insulated room nearby.

Most modern breeds of rabbits, which are taken for cultivation in the latitudes of our country, tolerate cold conditions well.

The main elements of a shed are:

  1. Rectangular wooden or metal frame. This shed base is assembled from bars or rods in such a way that 2 parallel rows of cages can be arranged on both sides.
  2. Separate wooden cages with one side made of metal (galvanized) mesh, having a mesh size of 2.5x2.5 cm or 15x40 mm.

Cage sizes vary depending on which rabbits they are intended for. Some of the larger cells are left to accommodate females with newborn offspring, adult males and rabbits are placed in the rest. Based on the fact that the existing area standards provide for the allocation of at least 200 cm³ per 1 rabbit, the average cage size should be within 80x80x40 cm. For adults, as well as rabbits with offspring, the cage length should be at least 1 m. for females, they are divided into 2 unequal parts: in a smaller one, they equip a department for babies.

The frame of the cells is made of wooden boards, planks or slats. One or 2 sides can be completely made from a single piece of metal mesh. The floor in the cage is usually wooden or plastic. The easiest way is to fill the slats diagonally with a gap of 1.5 cm. You can combine the floor by aligning the metal mesh with the wooden planks. This is done in order to be able to quickly clean the cage from the inside.

Retractable trays are required to facilitate the cleaning process. Rabbits are very demanding on hygiene. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the cages almost every day. It is not recommended to cover the floor of the shed with anything, allowing liquid waste to go into the ground.

On the front mesh walls of the cages, doors, bunker feeders and drinkers (preferably nipple ones) are hung on hinges, a latch is installed. There are various automatic drinking bowls, special non-waste bunker feeders are produced, the food in which must be periodically refreshed.

Cage sizes vary depending on which rabbits they are intended for.

An inclined canopy should be installed above the structure with cages, which has the function of protecting animals from the weather. You can cover the structure with sheets of polycarbonate or slate, securing them securely. Next to the cages, it is necessary to provide a sennik - an additional place for storing feed, improvised materials. Since such a shed structure is only protected from above, rabbits always have access to fresh air.

In the shed, located inside the outbuilding, you can install fluorescent lamps, as well as heaters to create a comfortable temperature.

The benefits of keeping animals like this

In a multicellular shed for industrial use, all processes of manure cleaning, feed and water supply are automated. The maintenance staff can only monitor the condition of the animals and carry out regular maintenance.

In small private farms, the independent production of sheds greatly facilitates the work of workers. The main feature of this design is its simplicity and functionality.

The effectiveness of breeding rabbits depends on the proper conditions for their maintenance, nutrition and care. Shed coating has a number of advantages:

  1. All processes are well organized. This allows you to increase productivity.
  2. Space is effectively used due to the tiered cells.
  3. You can build a shed according to individual sizes based on the planned number of rabbits.
  4. Individual keeping of animals in separate cages is provided, which makes it possible to resettle young animals and females.
  5. Animals live in comfortable conditions: in the fresh air, but without direct sunlight harmful to them due to the arrangement of a canopy for rabbits.

Open enclosures are suitable for keeping animals, but only in those regions where the climatic conditions are rather mild. Open enclosures contribute to a good and comfortable living for rabbits. But in areas where there are cold winters and sudden changes in temperature, the construction of special premises will be required. The whole complex, equipped for animals, is called sheds.

The sheds themselves are buildings with sheds and equipped cages. They can be serviced manually or automated.

Among the main advantages are the following:

  • the territory is used with maximum benefit;
  • all buildings can be built with your own hands;
  • rabbits are kept in individual cages;
  • providing comfortable conditions for animals suitable for reproduction;
  • maintaining the temperature regime within the specified limits;
  • protection from adverse weather conditions.

How to build a shed yourself

The creation of such a building is not something out of the ordinary. Initially, you need to take care of the presence of cells or make them yourself. The size of the cells depends on the breed characteristics of the animals. The structures are placed in two tiers with a passage of at least 1.5 meters. Light frame options are suitable for summer content. Insulated rooms are needed if the rabbits will sit in sheds even with the onset of frost.

To make cages, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • galvanized metal mesh;
  • wooden slats;
  • planks;
  • slate;
  • hacksaw for wood and metal;
  • scissors for cutting the mesh;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • nails;
  • screwdriver;
  • level;
  • roulette;
  • glue.

Wooden planks are used to create a frame; self-tapping screws and glue are used for their fastening. The design should be rectangular (in order for everything to turn out smoothly, you need a level). Even a slight curvature can interfere with the installation of cages in sheds, and besides, this will affect the stability of the entire structure.

The bottom is made of slats, keeping a distance of about 1.5 cm between them. The wooden parts located on the outside must be covered with a metal mesh. Then you need to install the front wall, which will act as a door.

By a similar method, cells are produced in the quantity in which it is necessary. After completion of the work, they must be assembled into a structure, which will consist of two tiers, and fastened. How to do it right - you can see in the drawings below.

Feeders and drinkers are installed in each metal cage.

After the cellular structure is mounted, you need to make a canopy, for the construction of which you will need slate, metal sheets or plastic. Any of the selected materials will be a reliable protection for rabbits from bad weather conditions. It is important to consider that the canopy should have a slight slope so that precipitation does not flood the cells.

The floors are constructed from concrete or laid out from tiles. Separately, they provide for the presence of pipes through which sewage will flow into a cesspool located at a distance from the sheds.

Summer options for rabbit houses suggest the presence of polymer films that will protect the cages from strong winds, but at the same time perfectly let through Sun rays. Such measures allow you to create the desired microclimate.

How to properly arrange sheds

When creating structures, you need to remember that sheds should be easy to maintain. The cages are mounted in such a size that the worker does not have problems when cleaning and he can reach any corner.

According to the schedule, the animals should receive food and water daily. Cleaning is done as needed.

It is worth considering that the wooden floor will eventually begin to deteriorate and rot. Boards become a comfortable habitat for harmful bacteria. To prevent this, it is necessary to regularly inspect the premises for their integrity and suitability for keeping animals.

Each cell is equipped with:

  • feeders for rabbits;
  • drinkers;
  • a manger for hay and grass;
  • metal bowls for grain feed.

Separate requirements apply to lighting. During the summer months, the animals will need fresh air and a constant source of light. It is best to make several window openings on the roof and on the walls.

When installing the ventilation system, it is important to prevent the formation of a draft, which has a detrimental effect on the health of animals. If severe frosts are expected, then the sheds will need to be insulated: any insulating materials will do here. In the presence of capital buildings, animals can be temporarily overpowered in a warm room.

Carrying out disinfection treatments of cells (care)

For a long time, harmful bacteria can live in bedding materials and wooden structures of the cage, as well as in containers for feed and water and inventory tools. If you carry out regular cleaning of the premises, then this will give only 40% success in the destruction of microorganisms: the rest will find a new refuge in a hard-to-reach place.

With the development of various diseases, even if it is diagnosed in time and treatment has begun, all these measures may not lead to a positive result until all the cages, objects in it and inventory tools are completely disinfected.

Most experienced rabbit breeders agree that disinfection of rabbit cages should be done every 6 months, regardless of how many livestock are kept on the farm. The most successful time for such work is spring or autumn. Unscheduled processing can be carried out at any time, if there are prerequisites for this.

It is mandatory to carry out disinfection in the following cases:

  • seating young animals with adults;
  • upcoming round;
  • eliminated infectious or other disease.

Most viruses and bacteria are very viable, and for a successful fight, people often resort to radical methods:

  1. Processing with chemicals. These include antiseptics with a strong effect. They are used for external and internal parts of cells, they must be washed off with water.
  2. Aerosols containing chemical constituents. Similar to the way already described.
  3. Burning with fire. A blowtorch or gas burner is used.
  4. Car wash and using Karcher.
  5. Building hair dryer.

Disinfection can only be started after a thorough cleaning of the premises. If you follow next sequence, then the work will not seem so difficult and impossible:

  1. Transfer of animals to another room or temporary cages.
  2. The cage is cleared of feeders, drinkers and other removable parts.
  3. With the help of inventory, bedding materials are removed, which are stored in plastic bags and then disposed of.
  4. Be sure to inspect the cage for damage, holes in the walls, ceiling or floor. If there is damage, they must be repaired.
  5. Using hot water, all contaminants are removed, it is important to thoroughly clean dried feces and feed particles. If necessary, use a stiff brush.
  6. The cage is washed both inside and out, then detergents can be used.
  7. After washing off such products, the cage must be dried in a room with good lighting.
  8. All components of the drinkers and feeders removed from the cage are also thoroughly washed, it is important not to forget about inventory tools.
  9. While everything is drying, a general cleaning is carried out in the room where the cages were. Hot water and detergents are also used here.

Mammals from the hare family - rabbits - were domesticated by humans centuries ago. These rather full and rather big animals cannot fight back the enemy, they are not able to protect their cubs.

The only thing that nature came up with in this case for them was the ability to warn their relatives about the danger with a loud clatter of their paws on the ground. Rabbits have intestinal digestion. This means that most of the breakdown, digestion and assimilation of food takes place in the colon and caecum.

Given the above, a farmer who decides to start breeding and keeping rabbits in order to make a good profit must create decent living conditions for them and establish a food system. In other words, animals need strong cages (so that rats cannot gnaw them and kill rabbit offspring), and food for animals is needed in sufficient quantities.

Shed content system.

Sheds for rabbits

For hundreds of years of cultivation, mankind has come to the conclusion that The best way their contents are sheds. Building for the full existence of fur-bearing animals implies the ability to simultaneously contain a very different number of them, and also provides a number of advantages for caring for them.

It is worth noting that with the shed system of keeping rabbits, you can make additional houses for them without much effort and a global restructuring of the entire structure. It is enough to create an intelligent drawing once, and then, if necessary, deliver the rows.

note

Shed rearing of rabbits is keeping them in adjacent cells in the same room. As a rule, a two-story building, where cells of the same size - houses are placed on top of each other and close to the neighboring ones, are covered with a canopy. In central Russia, such sheds can be built on the street. In spring and summer, animals will constantly be in the fresh air, which will positively affect their appearance.

But the winter keeping of domestic fur animals does not exclude the presence of such containers in the barn. A structure assembled once will last a long time. long time, which means that having invested once, you can receive a certain profit for many years.

Initially, a certain standard size was developed for large farms, which made it possible to keep individuals with maximum benefit. So, it has been verified by time that the construction, 60 meters long, about 1 meter deep, and 2 meters high, is ideal for keeping about five hundred non-breeding rabbits in it.

The lower tier should not be on the floor. The distance from the surface of the earth (floor covering) to the bottom of the lower cells must be at least 60 centimeters. The length of each cell is at least 60 centimeters (young rabbits can be kept here), maximum - 90 - 100 centimeters (here it will be convenient for a rabbit with rabbits or an adult male).

In a standard shed, there is a kind of cableway, fully or partially automated. With its help, the simultaneous maintenance and feeding of all pets takes place. It is also possible that there is some kind of centralized sewerage system.

We make sheds for rabbits with our own hands.

Now you can buy anything and everything. A fairly large number of companies offering their services for the delivery, assembly and installation (this takes into account the construction of the foundation, its pouring, as well as the alignment of the entire structure) of sheds suggests that this method of keeping rabbits is quite popular.

However, the price of the finished structure is more than impressive. A two-tier version 60 meters long can cost $ 20,000, however, if it is assembled in the factory, but mounted by craftsmen who will even give some guarantee for certain time its trouble-free operation.

Is it necessary to spend a tidy sum, if it is not at all difficult, according to the existing drawing, to assemble such an option as will be necessary in each specific case. What do you need to start building?

For creating simple option material needed:

  1. strong steel mesh;
  2. wooden planks;
  3. slate;

3.Tools:

  1. hacksaw for metal and wood;
  2. scissors for cutting the mesh;
  3. nails, screws, corners;
  4. screwdriver;
  5. level, carpentry meter or ordinary tape measure.

4. Feeders and drinkers (you can buy them), but it’s not difficult to make them yourself or adapt a variety of improvised containers for these purposes.

So, suppose the drawing assumes that each house has a standard length of 1 meter, a depth of 0.9, and a height of 50 centimeters. Let's start making the first cell.

1. We take wooden planks (they are either bought ready-made or sawn out on our own), but they have the following dimensions: thickness 30 - 35 millimeters, width - 25 - 35 mm. We need 6 of them 50 centimeters long. And 4 more pieces of 90 centimeters each, and 4 more pieces of a meter long.

2. We make the skeleton of the cell. We assemble it like a constructor. We observe the perpendicularity of the lines. The level helps us. We fix the corners, screw the screws with a screwdriver, for reliability, you can use carpentry glue.

3. Cooking the bottom. It is also better to make it wooden from planks up to 25 mm thick, 20 - 25 wide, 90 centimeters long. We fill them at a distance of a centimeter - one and a half from each other.

4. Now it's time to tackle the grid. It is better to take the one that is galvanized, with a cell size of 16 by 48 or 25 by 25 millimeters. We cut out 3 canvases, the length of which is 90 by 50 centimeters and another 2 - 50 by 100. We fill the grid along the wooden frame, always outside. It is very tight so that a paw is not stuck in a rabbit that is too curious or, what is good, a rat or a marten cannot get inside.

5. The front wall is inserted last. She will be the door. They put it on awnings. Make a castle. Everything should be strong enough, as an adult crawl is quite heavy and strong. It may well destroy the flimsy door structure and fall out.

6. Outside of each container, we install a drinking bowl and a feeder. These devices are needed in case, for some reason, centralized simultaneous feeding of animals is not carried out.

Then we make as many containers as needed. According to our drawing, we put the cages one on top of the other, we provide a bunker for filling feed. Above the structure we make a canopy of slate (you can use any other suitable material). In principle, everything, the shed is ready.

Such a design, made independently, will cost several times cheaper than purchased. You can save even on some nuances.

First, you can make a common back wall for the entire length. In this case, you only need to eliminate the slightest gaps between the finished cages and the back panel.

Secondly, With all the side walls, only the first container should be made. Then attach the rest of the three-wall structures to it.

Thirdly, it is quite realistic to build a common roof. If there is one back wall and one solid roof, it is enough to make a partition for each cell, and then insert doors into each.

Rabbit advice

One more piece of advice. It is better to make a canopy at an angle, slightly longer than the front edge of the cell. Then the rains are not terrible, the water will roll down, or snow - it will not be able to break through the sloping roof.

If the shed is being built for the outdoors, a small foundation, 20 centimeters deep, will be able to protect the structure from falling in strong winds. The concrete base can be sprinkled with earth or sand, and pallets can be installed on top, into which animal waste will fall.

By the way, a real shed also provides for a special manure channel where the owner drains waste, it is advisable to keep a special drainage in it and under it (something like specialized sand for cat litter). This method greatly simplifies cleaning.

If the shed structure in the shed and the rows rest against the walls, then there is no need to concrete, especially since it is considered harmful to breathe the fumes that come from the cement when feces fall on them.

It is necessary to install the structure so that the sun shines on it only in one half of the day. This amount of ultraviolet will be quite enough for the well-being of pets. Daylight and partial shade will help them maintain not only health, but also the skin from fading.

Cell care.

Photo of the house, kindly provided by our reader. The container will be located in the house.

The more individuals in the shed, the more you need to clean up. A specialized channel will help speed up this process and make it more thorough. The stools, after getting into a special channel, where the drainage is placed in advance, crystallize, it will be easy to remove them.

Cleaning should take place at least once a day. The cleaner inside, the healthier the animal, the better its coat. The manure channel is cleared manually. Pallets are removed and their contents are disposed of.

Rabbit advice

Granular feed can be filled into the feeding bin, and hay and fresh grass will have to be laid out in the feeders. It is necessary to periodically clean not only the container, but the hopper and all channels.

When you have to deal with the global cleaning of rabbit houses, you can temporarily release the containers, placing their inhabitants in neighboring ones.

Profitability of the method

Without a pallet, not very convenient to clean and maintain

The auger method of raising rabbits is recognized as one of the most successful in the world. This method allows, first of all:

  1. Save space. On a relatively small area, you can keep a fairly large number of individuals.
  2. This method is also beneficial because it significantly optimizes the time spent on caring for animals.
  3. Reduces the process of distributing food at times. And the sewer channel makes the cells cleaner and, although a little, simplifies the process of daily cleaning.
  4. A centralized building, where there are quite a lot of cells, makes it easy to seat fighters, keep a rabbit with offspring separately, reduces the risk of rodents entering the building, and helps to quickly eliminate the source of the disease.

Thus, it is enough to spend a certain amount of effort, time and money once to make a solid structure that will pay off, with proper care of the animals, after the first season. At the same time, the auger structure, built according to good drawings, can later be used, for example, for keeping chinchillas or minks.
